Performances

Along with solo performances, I play with the Celtic band Blackthorn and perform dulcimer duets with Barbara Gershman as Better Than One. I'm also performing with Chris Yates in The Short & Curly Show. Bios for each of these groups and our upcoming performances can be found below. This page is still under development, so please check back frequently!

The Short & Curly Show

Renaissance Arts Themed Comedy and Music

Gather a merry throng and cast your Lords and Ladies back to Renaissance Times. Be seated at your own round table and enjoy a feast of Renaissance Art Entertainments presented by the Master of Tights, "The Lord Rusty", and the Mistress of Strings, "Marian of Amelot".

Be amazed by comic juggling, silly magic, dangerous diabolo, and much more. A skilled minstrel provides accompaniment on the favored medieval instrument, the Hammered Dulcimer, whilst exchanging banter with His Lordship of Rust. An unforgettable, unique, and original comedic-themed experience is presented with a theatrical flare and a contemporary edge. This duo pays homage to the traditions of the entertainers from centuries past.

"Lord Rusty" is the comic creation of Christopher Yates. Drama and Circus School trained, Christopher has performed on four continents in three different languages; his performance genres range from theater to film, corporate to carnival. Originally from New Zealand, Christopher is now residing in SoCal.

"Marian of Amelot" is portrayed by Patti Amelotte, the 1990 California State Hammered Dulcimer Champion. A graduate from Chapman University with a BA in Piano Performance, Patti has maintained her status as a full-time musician with performances at Disneyland, at The Magic Castle, with the San Diego Symphony, with the LA Children's Chorus, and various music festivals.

The Short and Curly Renaissance Arts Theme Show is a must see act.

Blackthorn

Traditional Music and Song from the British Isles, Ireland, and America

Blackthorn combinies the magical, ethereal tones of the hammered dulcimer, harp, flute and whistle with the drive of the guitar, banjo and mandolin.

Our performances are a mixture of rollicking dance tunes, beautiful songs, and harp tunes accompanied in an elegant, chamber music style but with the friendliness of folk music.

We have been playing together for over a decade and are experienced in giving concerts, music festivals, private engagements and school presentations.
